Canvas Print Size Chart & Guide
by Cody Johnson | Jul 22, 2014 | Advice
We made this graphic as a guide for anyone who is trying to figure out what is an appropriate size canvas print for a wall. Our hope is that this canvas print size chart will give you a better visual before you use our online photo printing services for your space.
Whether it is above a couch or not you can relate to the size of a normal couch. We used the normal industry sizes as the guideline for your artwork. Remember that we can do custom sizes as small as 8x8 up to 54”x96” and any size in between. We chose these sizes because they are the most common sizes that are printed.
As you can see if you wanted to place a single canvas print over your couch an 8x10 is not going to make much of an impact. A 24x36 or 30x40 would be a more appropriate size. However a series of 8x10’s could work as well.
The key for choosing artwork for a space is to cover it proportionally so that the photo or art makes a statement and can hold the space without getting swallowed up by too much empty wall space around it. We like to use the 2/3 or 3/4 rule. It’s rule we kind of made up but it goes like this. Measure a wall from side to side and figure out what 2/3 or 3/4 of that measurement is (ie if the wall measures 60” wide then 3/4 of that is 45” - [wall length x .75])
It is not unusual to send us a photo of your wall with dimensions. We love helping out when we can to figure out the best size for a single piece or help you design a custom wall collage. Whatever help you need we are here for you.
