Instagram and the National Pastime are a fantastic fit. It is something new (that makes your photos feel old) paired with something old (that has a new beginning every year). Confused yet? The one thing that baseball and Instagram have in common is a sense of nostalgia, creating memories that will be called upon each and every spring when opening day rolls around. It makes for a perfect fit.
The social photo sharing network has seen a 400% increase in photos shared at a major league ballpark this season as to compared of all of the 2011 season...and it's only May. VenueSeen compiled the statistics from Instagram photos posted at different Major League Ballparks around the nation and found there have been more than 40,000 photos shared at the old ballgame so far in this young baseball season. All of the information they gathered went into making this infographic below that shows which ballparks have fans that are using Instagram the most to chronicle their day at the game. The San Francisco Giants AT&T Park leads the field with nearly 6,000 photos shared followed by Yankee Stadium, Turner Field (Atlanta Braves), Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs), and Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox). In last place is Rogers Centre home of the Toronto Blue Jays with only 294 photos posted. Come on Blue Jay fans, start showing the Instagram love at the ballpark.
Take a look at the infographic and check out how VenueSeen even paired in state rivals against each other to see who had more Instagram postings. So what is the takeaway from this? Well, people who go to a baseball game want to cherish and remember the experience and share that experience with their friends and Instagram is the perfect venue for doing that. So go to a game, get you a hotdog and a cold beer and snap some photos so we all wish we could be there too.
